Among the various types of begonias, Begonia rex is one of the most beautiful and dramatic plants. Sometimes called painted-leaf begonias or fancy-leaf begonias, these plants are known for their variegated leaves. They frequently have large leaves (up to 6 inches long) that are brightly colored in various shades of green, red, silver, and purple.

Begonias are grown almost exclusively for their foliage - this is one of my favorite! Not many plants are as flashy or eye-catching as the Red Robin Begonia. Its leaves are predominantly red with black centers and a band of black edging. As if color wasn’t enough, the jagged leaf shape combined with no small amount of ridging gives the foliage an intensity and depth to be admired. This powerful plant will easily add intrigue and contrast to any collection. If planting outdoors, do so in May after frosts, but plant anytime indoors. With a moderate growth rate, rex begonias may grow to less than 12 inches in a year.

****If temperatures in your area are below 45°, I would recommend adding a heat pack to your order. Heat packs can be purchased separately in my shop at the rate I purchase them for. Your plants will be shipped priority mail to get to you  faster.  Unless you request your plant to be shipped in the original pot it was grown in (at no additional cost), it will be carefully packaged bare root.

As soon as you receive your plant, unpack it, and inspect it for any damages, as well as photograph your plant upon arrival in any condition. Once inspected, put your plant in water. Let it soak for a few hours before planting.

Due to the nature of shipping live plants, I cannot accept returns without proper evidence of fault on my behalf, i.e., poor packaging. Should there be any preventable damage or distress, photos will provide evidence as such. Should an issue arise and a refund is in order, I must have photos the day of delivery.

If your plant arrives and the box has obvious damage from mishandling, please photograph the box from multiple angles before opening. Once the plant is out of my hands, I cannot be responsible for damages incurred by shipping or handling. However, with proper evidence and documentation, you can file a claim with USPS for any qualifying damages. I am more than happy to file or assist you.
