DATING TO THE 1870’S
FASHIONED OF A CHARMEUSE SILK SATIN THAT IS IVORY WHITE IN COLOR AND IS TWO PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION. THE TOP HAS A SQUARE CUT NECKLINE TRIMMED IN SILK SATIN BOX PLEATS FULLY AROUND WITH LACE TRIMMING THE UNDERSIDE RUFFLES.
THE CUFFS ARE IN MATCHING BOX PLEAT RUFFLES AND LACE. LACES CLOSE UP THE FRONT, NOTE THAT THE CORDING PRESENT IS NOT ORIGINAL TO THE PIECE.
THE INTERIOR IS LINED IN POLISHED COTTON AND IS FULLY BONED WITH FRENCH SEAMS.
THE SKIRT HOOKS CLOSED IN THE REAR WITH A POLISHED COTTON WAISTBAND WITH THE REAR BUSTLING RISING OVER TO CLOSE IN THE FRONT. THE FRONT SKIRTING IS IN BOX PLEATING WITH THE REAR FLOWING IN A LONG TRAIN WITH A ROUNDED SQUARE FINISH AND THE ENTIRE HEM IS LINED IN ORGANDY AND LACE RUFFLES.
CONDITION: THERE IS VERY FAINT UNDERARM STAINING, NOTE THE IMAGES, IT IS VERY LIGHT AND ALL BUT UNSEEN. THERE IS A VERY FAINT BLACK SCUFF LINE ON THE REAR BACK RIGHT SHOULDER. THE FRONT CENTER SKIRTING HAS A DOUBLE HAND SIZED SOOT STAIN THAT IS ALL BUT UNSEEN, IT IS VERY MILD AND I PESONALLY WOULD NOT CLEAN. SEVERAL SMALL PIN POINT STAINS TO THE TRAIN, AGAIN UNSEEN. THIS GOWN IS IN VERY CLEAN, ALMOST NEW CONDITION.
SOMEONE ADDED LACING TO THE REAR SKIRT WAISTBAND ON EACH SIDE TO EXTEND THE SIZING SLIGHTLY.
