Antique Ornately Carved Draw Leaf Table & 6 Dining Chairs w/ Claw Feet 1930s

DESCRIPTIONS 

Wonderful Antique Carved draw leaf dining table and 6 chairs.  Superior quality and workmanship. This is an original set and not a later reproduction. Probably meant as an ornate Chippendale style but has a touch of Renaissance revival or Spanish revival design elements.  It dates from the 1920’s or 1930's.  

The table has a geometric parqueted top.  The 2 leaves slide out from underneath the floating table top for easy storage.  Outstanding 3 dimensional carved decorations of claw feet, floral accent, shell designs, and ornate curli-cues.  Even the bottom stretch has nice caving.  

Table dimensions:

Length is about 70 inch,  Each of the 2 leaves are about 20 3/4 inch, Length with 1 leaf is about 90 3/4 inch and with both leaves extended about 111 1/2 inch.

Width is about 38 3/4 inch.  Height is 30 inch.

This set includes 6 wonderful Ornate Chippendale style dining chairs.  There are 2 armchairs and 4 side chairs.  Beautiful carved flower surrounded by a shell crown is on each back.  The claw feet are particularly well done.  The knees of the chairs have a repeated shell motif.  Nice curved shape on the backs and arms of the chairs.

Very old red vinyl or leather material.

Arm chair height is about 40 1/2 inch.  Front width is about 24 inch. Depth is about 25 1/8 inch.  Seat height is about 19 inch.

Side chairs are about 40 1/2 inch.  Front width is about 20.5 inch.  Depth is about 22 inch.  Seat height is about 19 inch.  

This set been professionally restored. The refinishing was done by hand stripping and hand sanding.  The stain was an oil base stain (this puts moisture back into the wood but requires more additional drying time than solvent based stains.) Next a series of sealers and lacquers were applied with hand sanding between the layers.  The final coat is a durable bar-top lacquer.  

You can see the many years of honest wear and use that occurred before restoration.  However, we chose to leave these details that are part of the character that makes antiques special.  Material has been on these for a very long time.  In generally good condition but you can see some old marks and lines.

Extremely beautiful and very well made items.

CONDITION

Very good condition.  Professionally refinished several years ago.  The wear is normal and appropriate to an item of this age.  With restoration there is always a question of how far to take the work.  We believe in making the item beautiful and usable while not hiding all the well earned wear.  There remains some normal and expected shrinkage in the wood where pieces were originally joined, and small marks and scratches in the wood. 

Fabric does show some wear, marks, and lines.  The worst of the material on the chairs are photographed.  However, it is definitely still usable.

Sorry no shipping, local pickup only.  It is located in the Los Angeles Area.  Specifically in Whittier, CA.  Delivery available within a local area.  Item must be picked up within 60 days.  After 60 days there is a storage fee of $5 per day.   Please contact us for more information.

Freight shipping would have to be arranged by you as the customer.  We will meet the shipper of your choosing.

We try to describe all our items very accurately. Returns will ONLY be accepted if an item has been grossly misdescribed. You must contact us within 24 hours of receiving item to get our approval for return. Refund will be for COST OF ITEM ONLY and not shipping cost. Item must be returned in the same condition it was when it left me, before your money will be refunded. Buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance for returned item.
