Annia Galeria Faustina, meglio nota come Faustina minore (16 febbraio 130 circa – Halala, 176), è stata un'imperatrice romana della dinastia degli Antonini, figlia dell'imperatore Antonino Pio e di Faustina maggiore.
Madre dell'imperatore Commodo.
Moglie dell'imperatore Marco Aurelio, dal quale ebbe, durante i trenta anni di matrimonio, tredici figli, di cui solo un maschio e cinque femmine sopravvissero.
In origine, Faustina era stata promessa dall'imperatore Adriano a Lucio Vero, ma nel 139 fu data in fidanzamento al proprio cugino Marco Aurelio, che Faustina sposò nel 145.
Nel 147 fu elevata al rango di Augusta.
Si tramanda che avesse una personalità attiva. La tarda e inaffidabile Historia Augusta racconta di sue relazioni con marinai e gladiatori ospitati spesso nella sua splendida villa di Gaeta. Al riguardo del concepimento di Commodo, l'Historia Augusta riferisce che il futuro imperatore sarebbe stato figlio di un gladiatore (spiegando così il suo interesse per i combattimenti nell'arena), o che Faustina l'avesse concepito da Marco Aurelio dopo aver fatto il bagno nel sangue di un gladiatore giustiziato.
Faustina seguì Marco Aurelio nella sua campagna nel nord (170-174) come pure nel viaggio in Oriente a seguito della usurpazione di Avidio Cassio (di cui forse fu simpatizzante), durante il quale morì, lungo una sosta ad Halala, nel sud della Cappadocia, durante l'estate del 176. Nel luogo della morte, come è stato confermato dagli scavi, l'imperatore istituì la nuova colonia di Faustinopolis. Marco Aurelio così facendo la divinizzò, e in suo onore fu costruito un tempio a Roma e i Bagni di Faustina a Mileto vennero dedicati a lei.

Annia Galeria Faustina, better known as Faustina minor (c. February 16, 130 - Halala, 176), was a Roman empress of the Antonine dynasty, daughter of Emperor Antoninus Pius and Faustina major.
Mother of the emperor Commodus.
Wife of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, by whom she had, during the thirty years of her marriage, thirteen children, of whom only one boy and five girls survived.
Originally, Faustina was betrothed by Emperor Hadrian to Lucius Verus, but in 139 she was given in betrothal to her own cousin Marcus Aurelius, whom Faustina married in 145.
In 147 she was elevated to the rank of Augusta.
It is handed down that she had an active personality. The late and unreliable Historia Augusta tells of her relations with sailors and gladiators often hosted at her splendid villa in Gaeta. Regarding the conception of Commodus, the Historia Augusta reports that the future emperor would have been the son of a gladiator (thus explaining his interest in arena fighting), or that Faustina had conceived him by Marcus Aurelius after bathing in the blood of an executed gladiator.
Faustina followed Marcus Aurelius on his campaign in the north (170-174) as well as on his journey to the East following the usurpation of Avidius Cassius (with whom he may have been sympathetic), during which he died, along a stopover at Halala in southern Cappadocia during the summer of 176. At the site of his death, as has been confirmed by excavations, the emperor established the new colony of Faustinopolis. Marcus Aurelius in so doing deified her, and in her honor a temple was built in Rome and the Baths of Faustina in Miletus were dedicated to her.
