About this picture

This is a view of Talyllyn (Llyn Mwyngil). At the far end of the lake is Pentre Farm on the left and Dolffanog on the right. Beyond is where there was a village school but it had no teacher. The senior pupil acted as a pupil teacher. Beyond that before you climb Bwlch Llyn Bach (The Talyllyn Pass) is the souther route up Cadair Idris via Llyn Cau. It was here at the foot of the mountain where Idris Lemonade was made. Idris Lemonade was supplied to the court of King Idris of Lybia.
The pass over towards Cross Foxes beyond where Prince Arthur faught his last battle is known by various names. Margaret Hayes calls it Cader Bwlch. Bwlch Talyllyn is more common but its official name is Bwlch Llyn Bach.

As you climb the path up to Llyn Cau, you pass the place where a hoard of gold was found hidden under an pile of rocks. On the flat area near Llyn Cau there lived a group of people who were unusually tall and I wonder if that is what gave rise to the tories about Idris the Giant who dug the hole for Talyllyn - he took the shovel full of soil to Shropshire to make the Wrekin because he thought Shropshire was far too flat.
On the right as you drive up the pass you see Pulpit Rock which is where miscreants were thrown from in early times.

About the artist

TERESA R. CROMPTON

I am sorry, I have been able to find no references to Teresa R. Crompton, but I feel it is reasonable to say that this watercolour shows considerable talent. The subtelty with which she has shown the slate scree, heather and upland grazing is very good indeed.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS

If you are a buyer who is not in the United Kingdom:

PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN INVOICE FROM ME.

I will calculate the shipping for your individual item.

Wherever possible I will combine shipping to optimise on the cost of shipping for you.

If you pay too much for the shipping, I will refund the excess to you.

I have recently withdrawn from eBay’s Global Shipping Programme because I think I can provide a more economical option for buyers.

I do not aim to make a profit on the shipping.

To make my listings available to international buyers, I need to estimate the cost of shipping.

I have done this in two categories,
Large Letter 35.3 cm x 25 cm x 2.5cm – 750 g
Parcel up to 90cm x 60cm x 60cm – 2 kg

If you would like to know the accurate shipping cost for an item, please use the ‘contact seller’ to ask me.

I will always do whatever I can to help you to have the pictures you would like.

THE SHIPPING COST DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FRAME if the picture is framed.
Please tell me if you would like the fame and I will send an invoice to include it in the shipping.
That being said, I can't insure for damage to the glass or frame.
Usually, If I buy a framed picture at auction, I would expect to have to pay around £50 to someone like Mail Boxes Etc for shipping, but that includes collection, packing and shipping.
Frequently the cost of shipping is nearly as much as the picture itself, but does include a margin for commercial profit.
I do not aim to make a profit on the shipping costs.
