Welcome to ArtBox Samarkand!

Uzbek ethnic hand-embroidered skullcap (hat). (0134)

The hat made by the handicraftsmen from the majestic city - Shakhrisabs (located near the ancient Samarkand). Shakhrisabs embroiderers have been famous for centuries. Some elements of embroidery from Shakhrisabs have come down to us not just through centuries, through millennia. The craftsmen know each symbol by the name and meaning that it carries. Kuchkarak - horns of a ram, a symbol of wealth. Bodom - a flower of almonds and pandzhara - mesh, which are ancient amulets. Signs of water, sun, wheat germ and much more, were preserved for us by local embroiderers on their marvelous canvases. The embroidered hat is made in the traditional for this region technique - the iroki (cross)) multilayer filaments. Due to this, embroidery is similar to the applique of multi-colored beads. Each knot looks absolutely round and convex.
The hats from Shakhrisabs (the local name for the kolpok) have three remarkable properties:
The first, a precisely-sized hat removes the headache, since its rim sits exactly on the acupuncture points.
Second, these hats absolutely go to everyone, regardless of the shape of the face. If you do not believe it, put it on and look in the mirror.
Third, when you have a bright, patterned hat on your head, it's nice to look at you from the sky. If you are without a hat from Shakhrisabs, then who will notice you from the sky?
