Fully titled and subtitled, Backstage at Bunraku: A Behind-The-Scenes Look at Japan's Traditional Puppet Theatre.  FIRST EDITION, published by Weatherhill in 1985.  Authored by Barbara C. Adachi, PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED WITH PHOTOGRAPHS by Joel Sackett.  NICELY INSCRIBED, DATED (2/17/1994), AND SIGNED BY AUTHOR BARBARA C. ADACHI TO ANDREA KOPPEL.  The book was purchased in Washington DC, and I am pretty sure the individual to whom this book was inscribed, Andrea Koppel, is the daughter of Ted Koppel.  Here is a brief bio from Wikipedia showing her presence in Japan at the time the book was signed:  "Andrea Koppel (born November 27, 1963) is an American communications strategist, and a former TV journalist... Koppel was a Congressional correspondent for CNN. She served as the network's State Department correspondent from 1998 until March 2006. Koppel joined CNN in 1993 as the network's Tokyo correspondent and in 1995 became CNN's Beijing Bureau Chief. In February 2008, it was reported that she had joined M+R Strategic Services, a Washington, DC-based public relations firm as chief of its Communications Division. As of 2010, Koppel was the Director of International Communications for the Red Cross and a director of the Henry L. Stimson Center. In June 2011, Andrea joined Mercy Corps as its Vice President of Global Engagement and Policy, leading policy and advocacy strategies, and engaging the public on issues that affect Mercy Corps’ programs and beneficiaries."

The book is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. Very light cover edge wear, no further marks in 192 clean and solidly bound pages.  Members of the Osaka Bunraku Troupe reveal in this book the secrets of their diverse arts and crafts, their training, and their proud commitment to their centuries-old art.
