Rare original handcrafted diorama by Rex Stewart 'Gloucester Fishermen 1880'

Property from the American Marine Model Society, previously on display at their museum, Salem Massachusetts, fully documented and signed.

This handcrafted diorama is a genuine original, produced and signed by Rex Stewart, and it is called 'The Catch' depicting a Gloucester Fishermen bringing in a catch of salmon in 1880. The diorama measures 540mm long x 340mm high x 260mm deep and is cased in acrylic display box made to size, the diorama is produced in carved wood with plentiful detail from other materials, all meticulously combined and painted.

This is an amazingly vivid representation of a single fisherman enduring the rather rough sea along the English coast in late autumn when salmon fishing is at its peak. From one of the most beloved artists of ship models and dioramas in America second part of the 20th century. A genuine vintage piece in mint condition, complete and a superb display for any maritime collector.

The diorama bears an additional plaque of the original owner, The American Marine Model Society.

The diorama comes with an acrylic display case which is visible on picture number two: obviously I removed the case for taking pictures of the details in order to avoid reflections. The case is sound and can safely be shipped, it is free of damage and there are no scratches, in fact the condition is preserved like new.

This piece I acquired in 2012 in San Francisco on my last visit to The US. Additional pictures and information on request. Thank you for your attention, Andreas
