This is a fabulous Vintage Yoruba Beaded Hanging Panel from Nigeria.  The material is cotton with Glass, strings shells, seed pods and wood. This is an aged example of a beaded panel with extensive 3 dimensional decoration. The base is fabric, likely cotton. The many adornments are diverse and add character: cowrie shell panels, glass beads, and a tall beaded man are included. A panel with significant age and use. Among the Yoruba, beadwork is the province of the Ife diviner, something akin to a priest. Beadwork pieces like this one were worn around the neck of the diviner. In the complex beaded patterns symbol and abstract patterns interact with  the play of color and unique style.  A wonderful vintage piece of Yoruba to add to your home or collection.
