[Introduction] The AAV7 series amphibious combat vehicle was proposed to be developed by the US Navy in March 1964. The first batch of prototype vehicles was completed in September 1967, the first batch of vehicles was delivered to the Marine Corps in August 1971, and the units were officially equipped in March 1972. In the Marine Corps, AAV7 amphibious combat vehicles are equipped with amphibious assault battalions, each battalion has 187 AAV7s, 15 AAVC7A1s and 5 AAVR7A1s. Compared with the LVTP5A1, the AAV7 vehicle has improved water and land mobility, reduced vehicle weight, greatly reduced hourly usage costs and maintenance, and increased track life from 200h to 600h.
