Pair of white glazed terracotta sculptures in oriental style depicting male and female figures meeting in secret. The female figure carefully walking carrying a lantern under the presumed night sky while the male figure walks confidently carrying a bouquet in hurried anticipation of the pair’s reunion. The figures/sculptures, finished in the round, consist of two superimposed parts. Italian base manufacture mid-twentieth century. They measure

The gentleman caller is in excellent condition showing only typical ware for its age. The ladies flower has a chip on the edge of one of the forward facing pedals. Appears that previous owner potentially paint to cover up. This imperfection does not take away from the overall integrity and beauty of the figurine more so displaying the delicate harmony between love and reality.
