INCIPIO is a Japanese brand that pioneered neo-vintage watches in the 1990s by faithfully reproducing iconic timepieces (such as Rolex, Tudor, Patek Philippe, etc.). Vintage watches, too scarce for everyday wear, are recreated in a contemporary manner. Not limited to mere replication, these watches are designed to deliver high performance and maintenance capabilities, incorporating Swiss-made ETA movements to ensure durability and prolonged use—a feature commonly found in watches priced above $1000, like Omega, Frank Muller, Breitling, etc.
The value of the movements used and the absence of INCIPIO in the current market contribute to the ever-increasing worth of these timepieces.
In the early 1990s, NOVA DONA was introduced in very limited quantities by WATCH BEGIN. WATCH BEGIN is a Japanese watch magazine. Its fundamental design resembles that of a Rolex Explorer ref. 1016, but with the addition of a DATE function. Featuring Mercedes hands for the short hand and a Tudor Ranger-type for the long hand, it is powered by a high-precision Swiss-made ETA2824-2 movement. Only around 100 of these watches were produced.
Due to the favorable reception of this timepiece, the subsequent creation of INCIPIO watches was inspired. Consequently, this particular watch is now regarded as a prototype for INCIPIO, adding to its current status and value.
