Item Description

Japanese Antique JIDAI-TANSU Layered Chest MEIJI era

This is KASANE-TANSU from Fukushima, over 120 years old.

This is a very labor intensive item that has been scraped down to the plain wood on the front, repaired the scratches, etc., and repainted from the base.

The lacquer is painted in an orange color, the edges are black, and the frame is also orange, repaired over the old lacquer.

The front plate is made of zelkova wood and has an elegant and good heather grain.
The frame and drawer are made of solid cedar wood.

There are two drawers when you open the door.

There is one key, and all five places can be locked and unlocked.

Finished with antique wax, the inside has been cleaned, and the drawer has been adjusted so that it can be used immediately.

It has been beautifully repainted, so it is recommended for those who are a little reluctant to use old chests of drawers, or as fixtures for new or renovated homes, new stores, etc.

This chest of drawers is stacked and the top and bottom heights are almost the same, so I think it's good to put them side by side as a low chest or separately as a TV stand.
