Ballerina & Clown Couple. Vintage fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century.

Gebruder Heubach Ballerina with blond up-swept coiffure, long swan-like slightly turned neck and necklace,
wearing a narrow waist gold trimmed tutu, ballet slippers, and holding a candy-striped-type cane or baton between her hands.
She stands on the typical Heubach multi-colored base with simulated textured stone wall back.
This particular figure is rarely observed at all much less in this larger size and with no apparent obvious damage and/or repairs.

Marks to underside include an impressed sunrise mark with interlaced "GH" and "DEP" below, "26",
and red-printed sunrise with interlaced "GH" and "SCHUTZ-MARKE / DEP" below and "MADE IN GERMANY".

Exquisitely executed German bisque porcelain figure of a boy Clown with hands in pockets, wearing a beautifully decorated costume
denoting him as a Commedia dell Arte player, with a frilled collar and pointed hat. He is standing on an ovoid base with polychrome hand-painted decorations.
Further details include downcast, blue-painted, intaglio eyes, and blond hair protruding from his cap.
This figure remains in very good condition. Please note: His neck has been repaired/glued - see detailed photos.
Bears the mark GH DEP SCHUTZ-MARKE upon its base. Measures  12 1/2“ high x 5 1/8“ wide x 4“ deep.
