SHIRASAYA | |
![]() A shirasaya, is a plain wooden Japanese sword consisting of a saya (scabbard) and tsuka (hilt), traditionally made of rosewood and used when a blade was not expected to see use for some time and needed to be stored. Such mountings are not intended for actual combat, as the lack of a tsuba (guard) and proper handle wrappings; as such they would likely never make their way onto a battlefield. Most of the shirasaya swords sold today are purely decorative modern replicas. However, our swords have practical sharp blades. |
The blade of this sword is made of carbon steel. The high-performance blade has very good toughness and does not deform when bent at 90 degrees. The hardness is as high as 55. ![]() It can be used in battle or for display. We would highly recommend it as a gift. Anyone would be thrilled to receive a gorgeous katana sword as a gift! |
