Offered is a pair of Pacific & Atlantic News photographs from 1928. Both images feature Douglas Aviation engineer and his “World’s Largest Flying Boat” mock-up. Both images are dated October 12, 1928. “The giant airplane of the future is the flying boat” according to Burton. Burton was working for Douglas at their Santa Monica facility at the time. Burton would later become the chief engineer at Douglas and was the co-designer of the DC-3 just 7 years later. While this flying boat never made it to production, aspects of it were in the design of the Douglas Dolphin and the YOA-5. Both have the full paper tags on the backs with full descriptions. 6 ½” x 8 ½” each. Both in very good condition. Sold together only.
