Pug (2068) |
We really love this breed. It can’t be mistaken for any other breed for sure. In a way it has become an icon, a symbol of British determination. In its early life it was used for bull baiting, but this was banned in the mid 19th century. From there it became more of a family pet with people liking its friendly and amiable nature. Nowadays, it can be seen curled on the sofa, snoring! My, can it snore!
Sculpture cast in solid bronze by Butler & Peach.
This
piece is a traditional foundry solid bronze sculpture, and not the cheap cold cast resin which some
mistaken sellers call bronze. Crafted using the "lost wax" hot cast method, a highly skilled process used for over 3500 years, and completed with a beautiful patina finish, these techniques guarantee that no two items will ever be identical. Richard Cooper & Company work with UK sculptors and designers to create stunning and unique foundry bronze sculptures. Products range from the flamboyant figurative work of Landanski, through to the detailed wildlife studies of Michael Simpson. The foundry cast bronzes are produced using the lost wax method and sealed with a protective wax, preserving and enhancing the rich layers of patina applied to the surface. Each bronze is decorated and finished either using traditional patinas or by hand painting with acrylics and enamels. Most pieces are limited edition from 50 to a maximum of 150 depending on the piece. This ensures that the work will retain a value that will not be diluted by over-production and makes this item suitable as either a gift or an investment opportunity. |
