For auction is a large hand held nickel plated brass Solar carbide lamp.  I purchased this wit  a bunch of antique mining equipment but I don't know whether it was used in coal mining, railroading or in early bicycle/motorcycle travel. it has a bail handle on the top as well as handles near the top at the rear. There is a crack at the top of the clear lens but this does not interfere with the aesthetics of the piece. There is no damage to the body of the lamp but there are some stress marks in the underlying brass of the font. The lamp is approximately 9 1/2" tall and 4 3/4" in diameter at the base.
