Hinged Box

A delightfully naive folk art hand painted gilded wooden box of octagonal shape with hinged lid. This beautiful box could be used for jewelry, keepsakes, storage or display.

The painted figures in what looks like Indian clothing, along with floral motifs, makes this box very attractive.

I'm not sure of the age of the piece or its origin. There is a metal clasp on the front and good patina so I'm estimating first half of the 1900s.
