This auction is for a special commemorative brochure, which was printed in 1997 as part of the 50 Year celebrations of the famous marque.

It follows a similar format to the annual La Ferrari brochures, which also started in 1997, but is titled simply Ferrari and takes a longer look backwards before looking at the current cars, technology and company programmes.

After the initial inner title page, there are 2 pages of text divided into 4 sections: La storia (History of man and marque), Il Cavallino Rampante (The prancing horse story), La Formula 1 (History in F1 and records) and Le altre vittorie (Other racing achievements).

There are then a further 14 double-page photographic depictions from Ferrari, past and present. It starts with the first car to carry the Ferrari name, the 125 model, shown racing at Piacenza in Italy on 11th May 1947, and concludes with the modern steering wheel from the 1997 F355 model, upon which is superimposed a list of the names of all the Ferrari F1 drivers in alphabetical order.

Each picture is accompanied by a related quotation; two from Enzo Ferrari himself, but others from prominent company personnel as well as outside contributors. As a subtitle to each quote, there is also a line confirming the time, place, etc of each image.

The final page of the book highlights three company-backed activities: Ferrari Challenge (race series for owner drivers), Pilota Ferrari (track-day tuition) and Ferrari Owners Club (social gatherings of clients) plus a short technical specification of the F355.

The book, measuring 21cm x 29.5cm, consists of 32 numbered inner pages and has the factory catalogue number of 1185/97 - 7M-05/97 (on the inner rear cover at the top spine corner) confirming just 7,000 books printed in May 1997Text throughout is in Italian only.

This original, more than 25 years old and owner-unused, issue is in good condition with only some light markings to the covers, edges and corners.
