Up for auction is a vintage Colnago road bike from the early 1980s. It is a completely original Colnago OVAL CX. This bike was Ernesto Colnagos contribution to the upcoming Aero bikes. Ultra rare and collectible.

It is 2x6 speed. This bike has been used and shows regular signs of use. The decals show the most amount of wear on this bike. The paint is almost free of chips or scratches, but there are some rub marks and glossy places where the decals came off. Please simply see the almost 60 flickr pics and you will be able to judge the bike yourself. The optical condition is not perfect, but still very nice.

This frame is made of very special Columbus tubing. It is equipped with a Campagnolo Super Record groupset and Modolo International Patent brakes and levers. Many parts show a Colango panto (Mexico crank, seatpost, headset, stem and handlebar).

The bike has been completely checked and cleaned. Everything works well, it shiftes and brakes well, but it could be improved after shipment and reassembling by putting some fresh grease and oil on the mechanical parts and do a little bit of brake and gear adjusting. The tires are new tubulars (Conti Giro). The bike is generally very clean, but you may find traces of dirt here and there.

The bike is mainly equipped with Campagnolo Super Record components. The components are all in very good condition.

From Campagnolo are: crankset (I think this is the special Mexico edition), front and rear derailleur (Patent 82), shifting levers (slotted), pedals (track), seatpost (SR Colnago panto), hubs + skewers.

Components from other manufacturers are: Modolo International Patent (Numbered! These had the reputation that they were better than the Super Record brakes and levers. Please see the drilling on the inner side of the brake levers.); Rims (Lazer, tubular); the headset (Colnago - probably made by Omas or FT Bologna); the saddle (Selle San Marco Supercorsa); the stem and the handlebar (3ttt, Colnago panto on both).

Frame size: according to my measuring: 54.5cm tall (center - center), 56.2cm (center - upper edge seatpost tube); 54.8cm long (center - center).

Worldwide shipping! Please be aware that the buyer bears the risk of damage during transport. I pack well (usually packing a bicycle takes about 1,5 hours), but you never know what happens during transport. I will have to take off the 2 wheels and the pedals and will also have to put the saddle and the handlebar aside the frame tubes. In some cases I will also take off the fork for additional safety of the bike. All this will be done well wrapped. Sometimes I ship in one parcel, sometimes in two. Please claculate with 1-2 hours for unwrapping and reassembling the bike and be aware that a small gearshift and brakes adjustment after reassembling the bike may be necessary.
