Today's
auction showcases this Karl Lagerfeld large unisex white ceramic
watch owned and worn by Siegfried & Roy, the greatest magician
duo of all time.
Filled
with angular decorations, the watch features a big case with decorated
bezel and matching finish on the bracelet. It measures 43.5mm
in diameter not including the crown guards or crown.
Powering
the watch is a quartz movement that never needs to be wound.
One of the coolest
things about this watch is its level of wear. This wasn't a "safe
queen" - it was enjoyed by them. While
the ultra-hard ceramic coating has kept the outer facing parts
of the case and bracelet looking gorgeous, the stainless steel
back shows how much wear this received. It was clearly worn many
times. Think of the events this watch has seen!
For those not familiar, Karl Lagerfeld, the
celebrated German fashion designer (10 September 1933 – 19 February 2019), left
a lasting impression on the fashion industry. With a career spanning decades,
Lagerfeld worked with esteemed fashion houses such as Balmain, Patou, and Chloé
before joining Chanel in 1983. Serving as Chanel's creative director until his
passing, he played a vital role in rejuvenating the brand and establishing its
position as one of the world's premier fashion houses. Lagerfeld's unmistakable
style, characterized by his distinctive white hair, black sunglasses,
fingerless gloves, and starched, detachable collars, made him an iconic figure
in the fashion world. His profile is engraved on the back of this watch. Besides being
responsible for all of Chanel's creative work, he also had his
own luxury brand, which this watch was a part of.
We have
not polished the watch or done anything to the outside of it...we
left it just as Siegfried & Roy last used it which includes
a bit dirt, etc.
The
only overhauling we did was having one of our Master Watchmakers
who was an authorized Rolex watchmaker perform any needed servicing
to the movement and install a new battery to make it ready for
immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a two-year C.O.T. international
warranty on the movement.
Accompanying it is its listing from one of the world's largest
and most respected auction houses and a Certificate of Authenticity
from Connoisseur of Time.
We

Siegfried
& Roy - Masters of the Impossible
From humble beginnings in war-torn Germany to international fame
and a record-setting run at The Mirage in Las Vegas, Siegfried
& Roy were entertainers and personalities that will never
be replaced.
At the peak of their
particular and possibly extinct brand of celebrity, Siegfried
& Roy were arguably the most famous magicians since Houdini.
The combination of
Siegfried's mastery of illusions with Roy's natural rapport with
exotic animals created a 50-year performance partnership that
set unparalleled attendance and box office records. Along with
their extensive animal family – more than 75 white tigers,
white lions, leopards, jaguars, and cheetahs and more – Siegfried
& Roy became famous worldwide.
From
February 1, 1990, until Roy Horn's career-ending injury on his
birthday on October 3, 2003, the duo formed Siegfried & Roy
at the Mirage Resort and Casino, which was regarded as the most-visited
show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In recognition of their
talents, Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn received the Las Vegas
Entertainment Award for the Best Show Act in 1972; the Magicians
of the Year Award from the Academy of Magical Arts in 1976 and
they were honored with the Magicians of the Century Award in 2000.
The duo also dedicated their lives to the worldwide conservation
of highly endangered species. They have served as Chairmen and
remain active supporters of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's
Save the Tiger Fund. This fund has educated millions of people
to the plight and importance of saving imperiled tiger populations
and it has raised millions of dollars to protect critical tiger
habitat, stop poaching activities and establish effective conservation
strategies in a number of range states. Due to their leadership,
the number of white tigers in the world has dramatically increased
to nearly 200 and there are now 23 rare white lions.

Recently sold was a watch given a handful of years after the
Civil War concluded by the Vice President Elect to honor an Army
commander who went on to receive the Medal of Honor.
