This is a map of Somerset, which was originally published in 1665 by Joan Blaeu who was a Dutch mapmaker.

This map is a book plate taken very carefully from a book of 17th Century maps which was published in 2006.  It is printed on good quality paper but as it is from a book it is on 2 separate pieces of paper. The join between the 2 pages is very good, check the photos for more details.  It measures approximately 47cm x 35cm (18.5" x 13.5") and would look fabulous framed.

It was produced by a Dutch mapmaker called Joan Blaeu and was part of an atlas called 'Atlas Major' published in 1665 which depicted the whole of the world as known to early modern Europe. It was the largest and most expensive book published during the 17th century and for more than 100 years it remained the definitive atlas of the world.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MAP IS NOT a PHOTOCOPY! NOR IS IT AN ORIGINAL MAP FROM 1665

The map has been kept in a sealed plastic bag and will be sent to you in a cardboard backed envelope. I have other maps from this atlas for sale and will combine postage prices if you wish to buy any others.
