This is a stunning Fine Quality large Georgian 18th century Silver Pique work mounted Portrait Miniature Oval Table Snuff Box, i would estimate this rare snuff box dates to circa 1780 making over 240 years old, the quality is superb, to the of the top this amazing oval snuff box you will see the most beautiful Portrait Miniature of a young lady, she is very beautiful, the detailing to her face is exquisite and of the finest quality, from her delicate lips and wonderful blue eyes, her curled brown and powered hair is partially lifted and held in place which frames her very pretty face with a pale complection, the back of her hair cascades down upon her neck taking your eye to her pale blue dress with lace trim on her shoulder, this has slightly domed glass covering, its exquisite, this is then framed with a 9ct gold banding which has a smooth finish which frames the amazing portrait, this is then framed beautifully by silver pique work of a floral leaf garland that drapes so delicately around the portrait miniature of this very elegant Georgian Lady, this is finished with a wonderful spray of laurel leaf  to the bottom. The top has  a very ornate gold colour thumb piece for opening the top which has the most ornate design with entwined laurel leaf and a wonderful roundel to the centre, very pretty indeed, on opening the top of this wonderful early snuff box you will see the gold colour frame which is held in place by rivets, the base has also been crafted in faux Tortoiseshell with gold colour banding to the centre, its breath taking and very detailed. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a Gentleman or Lady in the 18th century and sat proud of place on a table or writing desk ready to be used, . If this could talk i bet it would have some fascinating stories to tell, it is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection. My photos really dont do this very beautiful box justice, it is of a good size...

Date...circa 1780

Measurements.....7.5 cm width...6 cm depth.... 3 cm height

Condition....  this is in lovely condition with the normal amount of surface wear for its age, just a few little hairlines to the back of the lid & base but only surface as they dont come through to the inside also a chip to the body at the back on the inside, its still very firm, the base has eight tiny holes as though they have been placed in a certain position but dont come through the body so not sure what they were for.  This doesnt detract at all from its beauty, just mentioned for accuracy ...
