This is a stunning Fine Quality large Georgian 18th century Silver framed Portrait Miniature circular Table Snuff Box, i would estimate this rare snuff box dates to circa 1780 making over 240 years old, the quality is superb, to the of the top this amazing large snuff box you will see the most wonderful Portrait Miniature of a Georgian Gentleman, he is very handsome indeed , the detailing to his face is stunning and of the finest quality, from his closed lips,  wonderful light green eyes and a pale complection, he is wearing a brown powdered wig with a black bow to the back which was the fashion in the late 18th century, the detailing is exquisite, he has a white cravat neckcloth with a wonderful lace bow to the front ( The "solitare" appeared in the mid-18th century and was attached in the back to the wig, wrapped around the neck, and brought to a bow in front over a cravat,) He has a very detailed striped waistecoat in which you can see showing underneath his bark blue Coat thats has a contrasting black collar, he has his head turned towards the onlooker, it apears he is looking directly at you, its exquisite, this is then framed with a solid silver banding which has a smooth finish which frames the amazing portrait, this is set within a top, the base has also been crafted in faux Blonde Tortoiseshell, on opening the pull off top you will see the rich and wonderful colours to the interior, the Large portrait miniature to the top is fixed in place by a silver rivet - stud,  he has the most handsome face, its breath taking and very detailed. The quality of the craftsmanship is superb, this would have once belonged to a Gentleman or Lady in the 18th century and sat proud of place on a table or writing desk ready to be used. If this could talk i bet it would have some fascinating stories to tell, it is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection. My photos really dont do this very beautiful box justice, it is of a large size being 8cm diameter. This fine quality Portrait Miniature is signed to the bottom of the portrait, though very hard to read as shown in the last photo.

Date...circa 1780

Measurements.....8 cm diameter...2.6 cm height

Condition....  this is in lovely condition with just a little surface wear with a scratch and a nick to the side on the base and dings to the silver frame ,  it doesnt effect the box at all,  it doesnt detract at all from its beauty, just mentioned for accuracy ...
