In this listing, you are
bidding on a very lightly used Maxxum medium telephoto 70-210mm zoom lens. This
is the version released in 1993, and has the floating maximum aperture between
f/4.5-5.6. (S/N 30239xx)
This Sony Alpha mount lens
will require an adapter for use with Sony E Mount camera bodies.
The lens is in excellent plus condition cosmetically –
just some general, but light signs of wear to the barrel, and nothing of
consequence.
Includes both lens caps.
Optically, the glass is
unmarked with no scratches, blemishes or fungus. There is some dust inside the lens, which is
common in telephoto lenses, but this will have no effect on image quality.
The zoom and focus ring
rubber grips look new and unworn. They slide smoothly with nice damping as they
are rotated. The lens mount is clean and unmarked and the aperture blades are clean
and snappy.
This lens which covers the
same focal range as the original vintage 70-210mm f/4 is admittedly not quite as
fine as its predecessor in many ways. However, at its price point, it’s a great
little lens if you need an affordable telephoto. If you are on a budget and
wish to extend your reach into the medium telephoto range, you will appreciate
this lens.
By using advanced aspherical
elements, a double telezoom principle, and a smaller maximum aperture, this
lens is much more compact and lightweight than the original version, and while
not as fast at maximum aperture, it holds its own in terms of performance against
any competition in this price range. in difficult AF situations such as low
lighting at maximum telephoto.
