BIJOU FUNNIES # 1 (1st PRINTING) JAY LYNCH FROM 1968 - RARE UNTRIMMED COPY

Here is a 1st printing of Jay Lynch’s Underground classic comix BIJOU FUNNIES # 1” from 1968.  This is the one with the over lapping or untrimmed cover.  See the pictures with the blue paper highlighting the overlap.  It is one of the 10 rarest comix according to the Collector’s Society Chatboards.  Most collector’s do not have a copy of this comix with the untrimmed overlapping cover.   It is graded at a raw 6.5, Fine Plus condition.  This is printed by the The Bijou Publishing Empire.  It has the 50 cent cover price and white paper pages (not newsprint).  These are the indicator’s that this is a 1st printing. This is one of the first Underground comix to come out.

The front cover is flat but has a 3/8” tear at the1/2 way point on the overlapped cover. The back cover has a 1/2” tear about at the same spot as the front cover about 1/2 way. There is a small piece missing from the front cover on the bottom right and on the back cover bottom left. The upper right front cover and upper left back cover has a minor miss-cut. These are most likely production errors since these were all hand trimmed and stapled. The back cover has a 1/4” tear at the top right and is a common flaw. The corners are nice and squared and unrounded. The spine is sharp. No roll or splits. Only a couple of minor color breaks. The top staple is attached but has a slight miss wrap. The spine has no tears. Bottom staple is attached. The book overall is a very outstanding example for any completist. If you have any questions or want more photos, let me know.  The price is $ 250.
