Sierra Leone 1907 SALVED FROM SS JEBBA Freetown to Southampton Disaster Cover

1d KEVII postal stationery cover, postmarked Freetown (26 Feb), to Southampton, England, handstamped SALVED FROM / SS JEBBA (Hoggarth & Gwynn Type 1), with Mokamba (Feb 25) and Southampton (19 Mar) c.d.s. backstamps, some faults as expected for such shipwreck mail, scarce. The S.S. Jebba, of the African Steam Ship Company, sailed from Freetown on March 4, destined for Plymouth, but ran ashore in dense fog at Bolt Tail, Devon, on 18 March; the vessel was lost, but the mail was salvaged.
