FOR THE VINTAGE ACCUTRON COLLECTOR. This very rare Bulova Accutron 214 vintage 1970's desk clock can be yours now with no bidding, no waiting, no watching, and no disappointment. The heavy brass case weighs almost three pounds! It measures 5 inches wide by 4 1/4 inches high by 1 3/4 inches deep. It has very rare large hands. (The few Accutron desk clocks of this type I've seen have hard to read watch hands). The movement is the revolutionary early space age humming smooth sweeping electronic tuning fork 214. THE MOVEMENT HAS JUST COMPLETED AN EXTENSIVE SERVICING CLEANING BY AN ACCUTRON SPECIALIST. HE GUARANTEES IT TO BE FREE OF OPERATIONAL DEFECTS FOR 90 DAYS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE. It is running steadily and dependably and keeping time powered by a new and readily available Renata 387s 1.55 volt battery. The dial and hands are in excellent original condition. The brass case and glass lense are in very good original condition.  This is a fine rare 214 clock that you will be proud to add to your vintage Accutron collection.

Note: The clock has been stopped for photos to show the full details of dial and hands. It will be running when you receive it.

A NOTE ABOUT VINTAGE ACCUTRONS: Vintage electronic tuning fork Bulova Accutrons are sought after by watch enthusiasts for their unique technology, styling, variety, history, and collectible appeal. The electronic tuning fork watch movement was a development of the beginning of the Space Age and the invention of transistors, capacitors, miniature batteries, and other electronic advances. The introduction of the Accutron in 1960 was a revolution in watch design.  Accutrons were the most accurate timepieces available for sale to the public and guaranteed by Bulova to run with an accuracy of +/- one minute per month. The watches were manufactured from 1960 to 1977 when they were replaced by quartz movements which cost less to manufacture. The accuracy of their vintage electronic/mechanical movement has been surpassed by modern high quality quartz movement watches. The Accutron 214, 218, 219, and 224 series movements are remarkably durable: I have seen 50+ year old examples that are still running with little or no servicing, only an annual battery replacement. However the movements have mechanical gear trains that operate most efficiently when they have been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and timed by a trained watch repair person. TO SUM UP: If precise timekeeping accuracy is your top priority I suggest that you purchase a new high quality quartz movement watch, or simply check the time on your cell phone. If however, like many of us watch enthusiasts, you enjoy the fascinating history, technology, and styling (and of course, the HUM) of vintage Accutrons you should own one or more.
