About the Artist:
Nancy Quinn was born in New York City and attended George Washington University, Fresno State and Fresno Pacific College where she earned her master’s degree. She then taught for Tulare City Schools for the next thirty years until retiring. Although Quinn didn’t study art formally, she gained knowledge while teaching her students and by studying with local artists. She also began taking night classes and teaching herself by reading art books and watching DVD’s. After retiring, she continued her art education by studying with nationally recognized artists such as Maggie Price, Albert Handell and Richard McKinley.

Though she began developing her love of landscapes and florals by painting in watercolor, Quinn later discovered the joy of pastels. She says, “Their immediacy and vibrancy really appeal to me. I find them addictive and the perfect medium to portray the colors and textures of the world around us.” Quinn has attended the International Pastel Society Convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico twice.

Quinn lives in Tulare with her husband of thirty-five years and is a member of the Tulare Palette Club, Porterville Art Association and Main Gallery Artists. She exhibits her work frequently in local galleries and has won numerous awards. Quinn has also been involved in several three artist shows, as well as a solo “Featured Artist” show in Porterville.
