                                                                         GROWING AND MAINTAINING INFORMATION!

I am not an expert with these types of plants. The information below is what I have learned and have been recommended.

Recommended substrate: Spagmoss + Perlite (50/50) or Spagnum Peat Moss + Perlite (50/50)

Native Climate: Humid Continental Climate

They will want full sunlight (minimum 6 hours) but not a whole lot of humidity as Newfoundland does not get warm outside of June to August. Humidity can lead to more healthy leaf growth but typically is not required.

They can be grown inside with a good grow light during the winter but once winter comes wherever you live they need a dormancy period. They need a dormancy period of between 3-4 months during winter to store up energy for the next growing season. The plant will live for up to 2 years but the plant will flower. Once the flower dies and the bulb on the inside reveals itself and the seeds turn the brown color shown, then you can collect them.

I recommend the Sansi 36W bulb or the Yescom 225 LED panels for an indoor grow light.

If you are in a high temperature/high humidity climate such as southern USA, Caribbean, South America, etc, then this would probably not grow very well outside if the temperature regularly reaches 30C plus. Better to grow inside with a good grow light. I personally have never done this as I live in Canada but since they are suited for a Canadian climate I can't see it having much success in somewhere that has a tropical climate.
