Description

Item: You will receive in good condition a extremely rare original comic of El Hombre Araña Spider-Man #6 published in 1980 (Indicia) by Editora Gabriela Mistral - Chile. This curious vintage comic is an international Spanish-language variant of The Amazing Spider-Man #121 published by Marvel Comics Group - USA in June, 1973 and The Amazing Spider-Man #122 published by Marvel Comics Group - USA in July 1973.

Pages: The comic has all its complete pages (32).

Age: Bronze age comic of my personal collection.

Key Issue: The death of Gwen Stacy and the Green Goblin.

Edition: First Chilean Edition.

Important Note: This curious comic is currently extremely rare and very difficult to find in the spanish language. Also as a curiosity it has a variant cover different of the original. The Publisher decided to use the cover that corresponds to The Amazing Spider-Man # 116. Additionally, several pages from the original comics were omitted. The last was a terrible habit of this publisher.

Collection Value: This comic is valuable to collectors for several reasons:

1. Its iconic theme involving the traumatic death of two important characters in this serie (Gwen Stacy and Norman Osborn alias Green Goblin).

2. The fact that is in foreign language and constitutes the second edition in Spanish and the first chilean edition. The first spanish edition was Editorial OEPSA (Macc Division) - México in 1974, the second was this in 1980 and the third was Novedades Editores - México in 1982.

3. Its extreme rarity due to its very low circulation in a few South American countries.

4. Its curiosity because it represents a terrible example of editorial malpractice. The publisher deliberately discarded two iconic covers (#121 and #122) to use the cover of #116, which is different and unrelated to its content. Furthermore, the publisher mutilated its content since two stories of 20 pages each were converted into a single comic of 32 pages.

Annotations: Bookstore stamp on the cover. No annotations with pen. No signatures.

Main defects: Some dirt stains and folds on the outer corners of the front cover. Wear and tears at the ends and along the spine. Rusty staples. Some small tears and dirt stains on the back cover.

Story: "The Night of Gwen Stacy Died!".

Characters: Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Green Goblin (Norman Osborn), Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, Mary Jane Watson, Aunt May Parker and Robbie Robertson.

Information about the artists:

Editor: Stan Lee

Script: Gerry Conway (story).

Pencils: John Romita Sr. (cover) and Gil Kane (story).

Inks: John Romita Sr. (cover and story) and Tony Mortellaro (story).

Colors: Dave Hunt (story).
