This auction is for an original handbook that would have been given to the owner of a new 2.0 litre, 2-valves per cylinder, V8 engined GTB Turbo or GTS Turbo model, during the final production delivery period in 1989 (and possibly late 1988), but without the optional ABS system.

The 208 range of cars were aimed specifically at the home Italian market where the engine capacity of just under 2.0 litre (1990.63cc to be precise) allowed buyers a significant tax-break!

The original car, a Bertone designed Dino 208gt4(2+2), was built from 1975 to 1980 before being replaced by the Pininfarina designed 208GTB and 208GTS models, based upon the 308GTB/S body shape, all featuring the same capacity engine and Weber 34 DCNF carburettors.

In 1982 the introduction of fuel injection was accompanied by the addition of a single turbocharger - presumably added to ensure that the loss of power suffered by the 308GTBi/GTSi model, was not repeated.

The final version, GTB/GTS Turbo, dropped the 208 prefix from the name and was produced from 1986 to 1989, with a new body shape mirroring the mainstream 328 models.

The only significant update during this final production phase was, in line with the 328 models, the optional addition of an Anti-Lock Braking System in mid/late-1988, which also required a redesign of the suspension and the road wheels.

The book, measuring 15cm x 21cm, has over 100 pages of technical information and instruction, with fold-out sections showing Instruments & Controls, Ventilation & Heating and a Service Schedule. All of the text is in Italian, French, and English.

Despite the information above, relating to the introduction of the Anti-Lock Braking System, which should have just pre-dated the manual, no mention of this is made in the text within the book with only the standard hydraulic brakes being featured.

The factory catalogue number on the inner rear cover reads cat. n. 551/89 n. 300, meaning that a mere 300 copies in the single print run of this handbook, but there is no note of the precise date.

This EXTREMELY RARE, nearly 35 years old and owner-unused, book is in very good condition, with only some light markings to the covers, edges and corners.
