About the Stamps:
This issue consists of five stamps of central Brazilian markets, one from each region of the country. All of them bear the illustration of the facade of the market and a characteristic element of each, located in the upper left portion of the stamp. Representing the North region, we have the Adolpho Lisboa market, Manaus/AM, and the design of a hammock. In the Midwest Region, the Central Market of Goiânia/GO was depicted along with the design of the “empadão goiano” (a typical chicken pie from the region) . The Central Market of Fortaleza/CE and its famous lace were chosen to represent the northeast region. For the Southern region, we have the cockle pastel (crust pie with cockle fi lling) accompanying the facade of the Central Market of Florianópolis/SC. And finishing, the Southeast region brings the Central Market of Belo Horizonte/MG and a pot of “doce de leite” (milk jam). The techniques used were watercolor, permanent ink and computer graphics.
