Publisher's green cloth boards with gilt and black decorative stamping on front cover and spine; blind stamping on back cover. Profusely illustrated with a number of color plates throughout also. Each volume has 768 pages. Vol 2-4 have marbled edges

Vol I - Jan - Jun 1876

Good condition, Covers appear rubbed with some patches of discoloration, but without much fading -- cloth remains quite bright, as does lettering and stamping. Cloth at corners as well as head and foot of spine has fair amount of shelf-wear, resulting in some fraying and small rips to cloth. Front gutter is cracked - however, covers remain attached and binding is overall quite secure. There are about 60 pages in center of book which appear loose, but remain visibly attached by thread. Pages are toned with some foxing, but are otherwise free of foreign markings or tears. 

Vol II - Jul - Dec 1876

Good condition, pages 47-64 loose, other pages starting to loosen, fraying to corners, rubbing to joints, cloth and lettering remain bright. Owner's bookplate to front pastedown and small note penciled to ffep
