The Keswick School Of Industrial arts was established in the Lake District in 1884 by Canon Hardwicke Rawnsley and his wife Edith and ran for 100 years until 1984 . Canon Rawnsley was the vicar of Crosthwaite Church and a founder member of the National Trust . the conditions originally imposed for attending the school classes were that each person should be local and lead a temperate and steady life .
