Features: The 1974 Pit Badge for the 58th Indianapolis 500 shows the lay out of the race track. Located on 520 acres of ground, the Speedway was planned in 1905 and constructed in 1909 in 1910 the two and one hall mile dirt track was paved with over one million bricks and oven with today’s asphalt paving the track is still referred to as the brickyard. Each Memorial Day in May some 300,000 race fans gather at the Speedway to see the greatest spectacle in racing.
