Bought this modem in 2014 and used it until this year when I upgraded my cable service and got offered a newer modem by my cable company.
I have contacted my cable company and had them remove this modem (see attached pictures of my conversation with them). So this modem is absolutely open and available to use with any cable company by any subscriber; it will not show as already in use.
