This RARE exquisite 12.5" charger plate from Limoges, France is a must-have for any antique collector. Dating back to the 1890s, this original, hand-painted piece features a stunning Renaissance style with a semi-matte finish. The plate is made of high-quality porcelain, signed Dubois and has the L S & S Limoges Mark - Lazarus Strauss & Sons Mark 1 in Green circa 1890-1920s. It also has hand painted on the back Bouverie l’ apris Guillain, which I believe is a painting representing the famous Georges Charles Guillain, neurologist, smoking a pipe in his kitchen. The painting does look a lot like the famous neurologist, but I will let you decide as I can’t be certain that’s what the hand painted marks represents on back.

This decorative hand painted charger plate is signed by famous Limoges artist, Dubois. It stands almost 2 inches high and has a diameter of 12 1/2 inches. It is extremely large and has raised relief adorned in gold gilt around the edges of the plate. There are also three holes in the back of the plate for it to be hung on the wall. The antique scene features a man (Guillain) smoking a pipe in an old cottage kitchen, while a woman sitting on a bench, holding a large wash bowl, looks towards him. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and very little wear to the gold painted edges. Please see pictures for details. I’ve included a picture of the last plate like this to sell on ebay, and it sold for $795 in 2018, over five years ago. I believe this could be the same plate that sold in 2018, and is a very rare portrait painting. Don’t let this piece of history pass you by! The plate will be packed with extreme care to insure safe arrival!
