On offer is a vintage Leaping Stag Pattern dessert or salad plate, made in bone china by Alfred Meakin, Stoke on Trent Staffordshire, England, in the 1950s.

The plate is decorated with two Leaping Stags, with a stylised tree and four red leaves, set on a white ground, with gilt edging to the rim.

It is 23cm (9”) in diameter by 2.3cm deep and is in good condition free from crazing chips or cracks, just the odd light mark commensurate with age or use. On the underside are the Alfred Meakin printed crown mark, used between 1945 & 1960 and the Stag mark. The unpackaged weight is 377 grams.

Thank You - For Looking

Condition: The majority or our items are either Old, Second Hand or Both and as a result they may have signs of wear and tear commensurate with age or use that you wouldn't see on a brand-new item. We always describe the items accurately, to the best of our knowledge but we are not experts or infallible and may miss something. So, if you have any questions, please contact us before bidding.

As there is widespread confusion about the difference between chips, nicks, hairlines, or cracks. Here is how we see it:

A nick is a tiny bit of damage smaller than 1mm and a chip is something you can see with the eye; a hairline runs over the surface glazing but not the body of the item and a crack runs through the body of the item, usually weakening its structure.
