A wonderful, genuine early Victorian period, mid-sized snake-like split ring in solid 18 carat gold.

This kind of connector can really make a look and finish off a perfect period ensemble. This one is rounded throughout, with hand engraved asymmetric ornate design. Little split rings like this can make or break a look. They’re not very common and especially not of this age, design and condition. At 15 mm external, 11 mm internal, it’s a small size and can easily be overlooked - until you pay close attention, then you know. It's perfect to be part of a focal point of a necklace, or to enhance a larger pendant.

It dates to around 1850 and has some superb age patina that gives authenticity and evidence of its path through history to this point. It works perfectly, opening reliably and securely, but one side stays open a fraction. It weighs 1.5 grams.
