Scene From Vietnam 1971
Saigon Pedicab Driver Taking A Break

I was a photographer in Vietnam during 1971 and 1972.
This is a fresh 4x6 inch print of an original photograph of mine.
It was taken in Saigon. The driver was having a cigarette while
waiting for his next fare. Yes, that's a boonie hat and fatigue shirt
that he is wearing. The pedicab was like a rickshaw but had the back
end of a bicycle attached to it for power. Modern motorized versions
were called cycolos. Riding in one of them through heavy Saigon
traffic gave you a pretty good idea of what it was like to be a bumper.
