Up for auction is a hardcover "The Pearl Box Containing One Hundred Beautiful Stories for Young People" written by 'a pastor' and published in 1851! This pre-Civil War era book is in acceptable condition; the binding has begun to separate as may be seen in the photos. There are pencil markings on the inside of the front and rear boards, in the form of the previous owner's name and date (1874) along with a child's drawing (?) of a ship! There is yellowing of the pages and some foxing noted; the edges of the paper is gold gilded! The book measures 5.75" x 3.75! Please see photos!
This book was part of an incredible estate sale of a home in the Midwest that was built at the end of the Civil War.
