Welcome to Paradise Bound!

Born in Osaka, Katō Hankei (1841-1906) was a true literati painter - one of the last great ones before the distractions of modern media. He studied with his father Katō Hanzan, his uncle Katō Bokkei and Xu Yutin. This is a wonderful piece of kachō -ga and is auspicious for elegance, refinement, beauty, rank and status. The oval seal in the bottom right corner was also used on these pieces sold in auction through Bonhams. Recommended scroll. A very minor bit of paint has come off (see 4th photo).

Very good condition. 42" x 21".

All original scrolls come with a sealed document of authenticity. You can also choose to receive an email with roughly 3 hours of related information.
