Welcome to Paradise Bound!

Matsubayashi-san, a member of the Japan Academy of Fine Arts, a member of the Imperial Chamber of Fine Arts, and an advisor to the Japan Exhibition, had a long, highly productive career that saw him as one of the guardians of the transitional periods of Japanese art from the Meiji to Showa periods. Not only did he have his own unique, Japanese style of interpreting classic Nanga (Chinese style painting), he was also a pioneer in the realm of Nihonga (Japanese style painting), -deftly able to help bring both schools into the ever-widening art classes of the 20th century.

He received many prizes in exhibition, was greatly admired by his colleagues, and was awarded the Order of Culture (1959), -which is not given out in great abundance in Japan. The mounting artisan picked the perfect high-quality silk with beautiful reflective qualities.
