This is for a vintage and rare Waterford Crystal Tantalus liquor holder. The piece holds 2 decanters and is solid stained wood that is decorated with solid brass corner pieces, brass handle and lock and key. What an usual piece of history this item is and surely needs a special place to be displayed and enjoyed for more years to come.
This box measures 15.5 inches tall x 11 inches wide x 6 inches deep.There are two separated spaces for each holding one decanter.
Each the inside tantalus spaces has a removable piece that can be placed in the bottom in one of two ways. The first way is to have the bottles a little lower so that the decanters can be removed without using the key and unlocking the handle. The second way is to place the bottom so the bottles are higher and the key would need to be used to move the handle to remove the decanters from the box.
When I obtained this it came with the shown original tag that states the item is from Waterford. The two decanters are in the Waterford Crystal Lismore pattern and have the acid etched name on the bottom. There is wear on the brass but is in very good condition esp due to age of the pieces.
The tag says -
"This fine piece has been fashioned by Waterford Craftsmen using only the highest quality materials."
"Our high standards are in keeping with a proud Waterford tradition and each pieces comes to you fashioned with the skill of a master craftsman, signed, J Connolly"
