This antique handmade embroidered sampler is a true gem for collectors of vintage textiles. The signed piece would be a stunning addition to any collection. The sampler, which measures framed 15.5” x 13.5”, was created using a linen blend and cotton. Its vibrant red color adds a pop of color to any display. Signed Marthe Pirotte, I believe it has French origins.
Actual sampler is around 14” x 11”.
This is not dated.
Frame has wear, scratches, white marks. Linen backing has yellowed, a few darker spots and soiling. There appears to be a folded crease mark in the middle of the linen. Please see photos.
