Stylish 1930's Philco 444 'People's Set' Art Deco Bakelite Radio To Restore

A delightful and stylish Philco 444 table top radio dating from around 1935 for restoration. The same case was used by Philco for various models but this looks very similar to a 444 I had recently

This charming period radio was described as the 'People's Set' comes in a stylish Art Deco mottled brown bakelite case which is in very nice condition with no significant wear or damage worthy of note (some scratches which and be dealt with)

The front station panel is good and the three bakelite selection knobs are good and rotate as they should. The speaker fabric is original and mostly fine, but is wearing in places.

The internal mechanism is totally original and quite clean. I think it is complete and although not tested the previous owner said it had recently been working but over heating, so I'm confident that there is very little wrong with it. There is part of a label on the back cover with some advisory information relating to safety from the previous owner, so please take note of potential hazards of any vintage electrical. Obviously only a qualified person should test and restore this item. It has not been PAT tested so I've removed the plug. A straight forward restoration in the hands of more experienced restorers. Consequently this item is sold a seen, not working for repair/restoration
