Welcome to Paradise Bound!

Born in Kyoto in 1822, Hasegawa was trained by Matsumura Keibun (1779-1843) and could paint almost exactly like his master. He also studied with Yokoyama Seiki (1793-1865). Recently acquired in Kyoto. Appears to be a surviving piece of a larger, hand-painted, horizontal scroll. Backed (see pictures). Normal condition for its age. Auspicious for feminine beauty, strength and sensuality, as well as being a Zen reminder of the transient nature of life and the Japanese concept of "wabi-sabi".

8″ x 17″ (image size).

Comes with a sealed document of authenticity.
