A beautiful antique black leather scissor case, containing two original pairs of sewing scissors, Retailed By Thorhill Of 144 Bond Street, in London's Mayfair district.

The black leather case - which still smells of leather even after all these years and is in good condition - includes the retailers details embossed in gold coloured lettering on the inside seam of case. The front of the case still shows some signs of gold coloured decoration, but most has worn away. The tab is still intact and in good condition. The scissors are housed in blue velvet.

The case measures approx 10cm long and 5cm at widest part. When fully open it is 25cm long.

The larger scissors are button hole scissors and are marked James Dewsnap, Sheffield. They measure approx 9cm long x 4.25cm wide.

The small scissors are approx 8cm long x 3.5cm wide, and stamped 'Left', because they are for use by the left hand, and marked Thornhill

They both show age related wear as is expected, but both work well - see photos.

The retailers, Thorhill, have history beginning in the 1700s, but moved to the premises in Bond Street in 1810. Thorhill acquired Royal warrants of appointment to Queen Victoria, the Prince and Princess of Wales and other members of the Royal Family. They really were high class retailers.

This is your opportunity to acquire a top quality antique to add to your collection.
